When a roof is beyond economical repair, or if you need an installation for a new-build or self-project anywhere in the Sussex area, there is only one team of roofers to trust. APC Roofing is a new roof installation specialist located in Peacehaven. The most important consideration with a new or replacement roof is, of course, protection for the property to keep it watertight. Aesthetics, however, are important too. Should you ever decide to move home, having a roof that needs no further maintenance can increase the resale value.
If you need our roofers for installations in Hove, Shoreham, Worthing or any of the surrounding areas, please contact us for a survey and a quotation.
A new roof installation will provide:
APC Roofing will visit you at home or onsite to survey, consult and quote for a new roof, be it as part of a new installation or a roof replacement service.
An initial consultation will cover an assessment of your needs, the build type, the materials needed, and how those materials will blend in with the property (if you are having an extension built, for example) and with homes in the same environment. If we need to dismantle an existing roof, provisions are made for waste management using skip and grab hire services. If required, we arrange to have scaffolds erected to make access safe for our roofers.
Disassembly of the old roof begins with the ridge tiles followed by the slates or the roof tiles to leave an open skeleton of the roof’s timber framework. If we are undertaking a brand-new roof installation, APC Roofing builds the timber framework from scratch including the ridges, eaves, rafters and binders.
We then add a breathable felt which we layer from the bottom of the roof to the ridge to protect against issues with dampness and moisture. Should a tile dislodge in the future, the felt will still divert rainwater into the guttering.
Our roofers use galvanised nails to fit timber battens to the roofing framework in rows with equal gaps to allow for optimal overlap on all slates and tiles. A roof with concrete tiles will only need those tiles fixed at specific intervals whereas slates, which don’t have the same hanging nibs as roof tiles, must be nailed individually. Slates and tiles which sit against ridges, valleys and the roof windows are cut to size and use to fill in smaller exposed areas.
A new roof installation continues with:
Many first-time service users in Hove, Peacehaven, Shoreham and Worthing worry about the cost of a new roof installation, but we believe that you need to look at the long-term value of our services to get a true reflection of what you gain for your money. A tiled roof has an expected lifespan of between 50 and 60 years whereas a slate roof can last for between 50 years and 200 years. The installation cost will vary based on the area of the roof, the slates or tiles used, the amount of lead needed and how the slates or tiles are fixed.
Additional factors which can influence cost are chimneys, loft insulation and the amount of work needed to replace rotted timber in older framework.
What APC Roofing can offer you is the fairest, most competitive price for new roof installations and replacements. Our quotation comes with a breakdown of the labour required, and a complete list of materials and consumables (and their costs) so that you can always see exactly what you are paying for in advance.
